Somatic Therapy Nashville

Helping you reconnect your body & mind

Invite your body into therapy

Somatic therapy = mind-body therapy, where we don’t just talk about an issue but also notice how your body feels in this moment. Then, we’ll use various types of movement, breath, mindfulness, and self-touch to help your body and mind feel better.

You likely already have a bunch of head knowledge.

What you’d like is to feel better.

Do you feel a disconnect between your heart and head?

Maybe you’ve done a bunch of work to understand why you feel the way you do…but you still feel shitty. Reading books and going to talk therapy haven’t solved the day-to-day struggles of anxiety, a harsh inner critic, or the traumatic memories.

You have all this head-knowledge, but it doesn’t seem to translate into how you feel.

So while part of you knows you're safe, your body still feels tense and on edge.

You know a bunch of great coping skills, but when the time comes to use them, you keep feeling overwhelmed and resorting to less-than-helpful survival skills

This only feeds the spirals of shame and hopelessness. If I know better, shouldn’t I do better? Will I ever actually feel better?

How somatic therapy helps

Somatic therapy is about inviting all of you - including your body - into the therapy room. We won’t just talk about how you feel, but feel how you feel.

I’ll help you learn to listen to your body, so that your body can become the healing ally it’s been trying to be all along.

Another benefit of somatic therapy is that you don’t have to “tell your story” in order to feel better.

You might not want to - or be able to - verbalize what was done to you. With somatic therapy, that doesn’t get in the way of healing.

I’m trained in Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (20 hour foundations course). I am not a registered yoga teacher.

  • Brainspotting

Brainspotting is an innovative and powerful mind-body therapy that helps you connect to your inner wisdom to release trauma and enhance joy.

I’m trained in Levels 1, 2, 4, Expansion, and From Freeze to Thaw.

  • Embodiment Group

In addition to incorporating mind-body practices into individual sessions, I offer a group dedicated to learning and practicing mind-body skills.

The group typically meets 6 times either weekly or biweekly and is low-cost to allow you to continue your individual therapy.
