Somatic Therapy Intensives

Feel better, faster

Intensives are personalized treatment plans that support your preferred schedule and timeline for your treatment goals.

Maybe the traditional model of weekly therapy doesn’t meet your needs or isn’t what you want. That’s ok.

You deserve flexibility in how you get support.

Somatic therapy intensives are like direct flights.

We'll lose less time boarding, ascending and descending (the opening and closing of sessions), and layovers (the time between sessions), spend more time "in the air" (actively working in sessions), and gain more time at your destination.

Who are Somatic Therapy Intensives for?

You’re crazy busy. Your schedule is so hectic that adding one more weekly appointment feels overwhelming.

You want to feel better quickly. You don't want to spend months in weekly therapy to feel better. You want help - a lot, please! - as soon as possible.

You have specific goals you want to address. Intensives aren’t meant for ongoing support - though they can supplement ongoing therapy.

You want somatic (body) support to supplement talk therapy. You love your work with your talk therapist AND you sense that something still needs to change or is stuck. You're curious about how somatic therapies, like Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) or brainspotting, can help as you work with your primary talk therapist.

You just like working intensively. You're motivated and ready to go all in!

If you resonate with any of these reasons, a somatic therapy intensive could be a great fit for you!

Why I Love Intensives

(and think you will, too!)

Time is a precious resource, and intensives give us the gift of time twofold.

First, we have a roominess to not feel rushed as we go in deep, heal traumas and strengthen joy.

It's incredible to witness first-hand as people shift from self-doubt into confidence, from shame into worthiness.

I see people's faces brighten as they sit up straighter and realize they believe, in their core, truths like:

“I am enough”

“The trauma is over”

'“I can trust myself now”

The second way intensives give us the gift of time is that, when we heal more quickly, we live less of our life in distress and live more life in delight. Life doesn't necessarily become easy, but as the heavy weight of trauma lifts it becomes more bearable.

What would you do if you didn't have to spend so much time stuck in trauma, worrying about what others think, or spiraling in anxiety? An intensive could help you get there quicker.

I offer intensives for my current clients when they are needing extra support, as well as new clients who prefer to work intensively.

Somatic therapies are for so much more than trauma, anxiety and stress; they’re also used for enhancement of positives, such as joy, creativity, relationships, and self-esteem.

Research on intensive therapy is positive

Intensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. Learn more here and here.

The economy is compelling: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session. Your somatic therapy intensive includes:

  • Pre-consultation interview to assess for candidacy, as well as target unpleasant beliefs, body sensations, emotions, or images from which you are seeking relief.

  • A customized treatment program with targeted treatment goals. Intensives can be done virtually or in person (in my Nashville office or outdoors), often for 3-9 sessions (1.5 to 3 hours each session).

  • Post-treatment interview to assess and support your adaption to positive changes from treatment.
